The Athletics School Games, organized by sports enthusiast Seun Akinbohun and supported by the Lagos State Athletics Association, is set to debut with the participation of fifteen schools from across Lagos State.
The event, scheduled for Saturday, April 27th at Yaba College of Technology, has also been registered with World Athletics, signifying its aim to enhance youth athletics in the country through an annual competition.
Featuring a diverse range of track and field events such as sprints, middle-distance races, hurdles, shot put, long jump, high jump, and javelin, the event aims not only to showcase athletic talent but also to promote values of discipline, teamwork, and resilience among the youth.
Akinbohun emphasized these goals during a media briefing held in Lagos on Wednesday, highlighting the event’s focus on nurturing young athletes and shaping their character and aspirations.

Our goal is to establish a new benchmark, one that not only meets but surpasses the standards set by World Athletics and other international governing bodies.”
Keke Hammond, a founding member of TASG, reiterated their commitment to sustaining the event and urged corporate entities to align with it.
Enefiok Udo-Obong, the Technical Director of the Lagos State Athletics Association, affirmed the organization’s support for the meet, while Clementina Kayode, the Brand Manager of Maltina, acknowledged that TASG resonates with the values of their brand.
