Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Plc has announced the commencement of the implementation of the April 2024 Supplementary Order to the Multi-Year Tariff Order issued by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission within its franchise area.
In a bid to enhance service provision, PHED assured customers of improved service delivery, highlighting that the supplementary order, effective from April 3, focuses on the provisions of the MYTO applicable to customers in the Band A category. Additionally, it takes into account other favorable obligations by the service provider to Band A customers.
According to a statement released on Thursday, PHED stated that under the new tariff regime, customers on Band A Feeders, who typically receive a minimum supply of power for 20 hours per day, will now be required to pay N225 per kilowatt-hour.
The implementation of this new tariff aims to mitigate the impacts of recent changes in key economic indicators, such as inflation rates, foreign exchange rates, and gas prices. It also aims to enhance the delivery of other responsibilities across the value chain, which directly influence operational efficiencies and the ability to provide reliable power supply to valued customers.
“PHED assures Band A customers of complete adherence to the objectives outlined in the new tariff order. The management team is dedicated to providing optimal and high-quality services in this cost-reflective era,” the statement affirmed.
The DisCo clarified to customers in other service Bands, namely B, C, D, and E, that their tariffs remain unchanged. The recently implemented supplementary order applies exclusively to customers on Band A feeders.
Customers were encouraged to visit the DisCo’s website to ascertain their respective Bands.
