Today, in East London, mourners will bid farewell to a 14-year-old boy who tragically lost his life in a samurai sword attack.
Daniel Anjorin was on his way to school along Laing Close in Hainault at around 7 am on April 30 when he fell victim to a swordsman, sustaining a severe slash to his neck and a stab wound to his chest.
Described by his family as a ‘wonderful’ and ‘hardworking’ young lad, Anjorin will be honored with a funeral service at Jubilee Church London at 11 am on Friday, May 17. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in an East London cemetery.
The community showed immense solidarity during a vigil held for Anjorin on Sunday, May 5, where his friend Harris expressed gratitude for the support received and paid heartfelt tribute to him.
After the tragic passing of Anjorin, Marcus Arduini Monzo, a 36-year-old resident of Newham, was accused of his murder.
Additionally, Monzo faced charges of two counts of attempted murder, two counts of causing grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary, and possession of a bladed article, as confirmed by the police on Wednesday.
The attack resulted in injuries to four individuals, including two Metropolitan Police officers.
Daniel Anjorin attended Bancroft’s private school in Woodford Green, the same institution attended by Grace O’Malley-Kumar, who was a victim of a knife attack in Nottingham.
During their home game against Bournemouth on Saturday, May 4, Arsenal FC also honored Daniel Anjorin.
In response to his heartbreaking passing, the Anjorin family expressed their gratitude, stating, “In the aftermath of our son Daniel’s tragic demise, we wish to extend our thanks for the support we’ve received, which has been a source of solace and resilience for our family.”
“We are profoundly grateful for your generous contributions.”
“Given the profound impact of Daniel’s passing, especially on his siblings, we have chosen to utilize the donations received to establish a new family residence.
