One of the leading gubernatorial hopefuls under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, has received a cautionary message urging him not to relent in his pursuit of becoming the governor of Ondo State in the upcoming February elections.
The statement, issued by Senior Pastor Adewale Giwa of Awaiting The Second Coming of Jesus Christ Ministry, was disclosed to the press in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, on Friday.
The unconventional clergyman urged Oke not to yield to any attempted settlement proposed by those who allegedly usurped the mandate, emphasizing that the time for him to assume the governorship role is now. He based his stance on the purported effort by the party to impose a candidate on the people of the state.
Giwa praised Senator Jimoh Ibrahim’s courage as one of the gubernatorial aspirants for seeking justice through the courts.
In the statement, Giwa asserted, “I can confidently state that there is unrest within the faction of selfish politicians bent on governing the state at any cost. You’ve unjustly deprived someone of their right to contest for an election ticket, and now you’re attempting to negotiate behind the scenes to dissuade him from fighting for his rightful position. Who do you think you’re deceiving?”
t’s Chief Oke’s time to lead Ondo State as governor; he holds a deep affection for the state and possesses the capability to enact transformative changes beyond our expectations. He is not only my friend but also my brother and uncle.
“He has shared with me his vision for elevating Ondo State to prominence among other states in Nigeria. While I generally have reservations about politicians, I can assure you that Chief Oke, if elected governor, will not betray the trust of the state’s populace.
“I want to emphasize that the people of Ondo State stand firmly behind him. They witnessed the events of April 20th, where his opponent flagrantly disenfranchised him and intimidated voters who were steadfast in their support with firearms and other dangerous implements.
“You cannot impose yourself on the people; ultimately, the electorate will determine their choice in the November gubernatorial election in Ondo State.
“I also commend Senator Jimoh Ibrahim for his commitment to seeking justice. It’s important to clarify that Jimoh Ibrahim has nothing to gain personally. He currently serves as a senator in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“All he seeks is fairness. If the injustices are allowed to persist, we risk losing the essence of our state, Ondo, within the next four years.”
