The All Progressives Congress leadership affirmed on Wednesday that President Bola Tinubu is dedicated to enhancing the living standards of Nigerian workers.
This commitment was conveyed in a solidarity message released in Abuja by the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka. T
he assurance followed shortly after the president pledged improved working conditions and equitable wages for working-age Nigerians in his inaugural May Day address to workers across the country.
Morka emphasized that the wage hike and comprehensive economic strategies implemented by the APC government are aimed at benefiting both workers and Nigerians at large.
The statement expressed, “We commend the resilience, sacrifice, diligence, and patriotism of Nigerian workers and recognize their invaluable role in nurturing and upholding our nation’s economic vitality.
Nigerian workers merit the highest quality of life attainable in our country, a provision that safeguards our shared ambitions for comprehensive and lasting economic advancement and transformation.”
“With joy, the administration led by President Bola Tinubu steadfastly maintains its dedication to enhancing the welfare of Nigerian workers.
Beyond the removal of the Academic Staff Union of Universities from the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System and the provision of wage increments spanning several months, discussions are actively underway to authorize a new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.”
“The administration’s extensive transformative economic strategies aim to broaden economic opportunities and advantages for both workers and Nigerians at large.
As we commemorate this occasion, we urge our workers to remain steadfast and continue to lend their support and cooperation to the APC-led administration as it endeavors to construct a more resilient and prosperous nation for current and future generations of Nigerians.”
Nigeria is among the 160 nations observing International Workers’ Day, also known as Labour Day. It’s a yearly occasion dedicated to acknowledging the achievements and contributions of workers to society.
In 1981, the Federal Government, under Shehu Shagari, officially designated May 1 as a national public holiday to honor its workforce.
