Bandits raided Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Okene in Kogi State on Thursday night, kidnapping several students. According to an eyewitness, the attack occurred around 9 pm while students were studying for their upcoming exams. The bandits entered the university through the bushes and targeted three lecture halls, where they fired shots into the air to intimidate the students. They then confined the students in the halls and began abducting them. The incident caused panic and chaos among other students, who fled to safety in different directions.
When the local security guards and gate security personnel confronted the bandits, the students had already been abducted. However, their swift response limited the extent of the attack, preventing the bandits from entering more than the initial three halls, as per the source. The incident occurred as students were gearing up for their first-semester exams scheduled to begin on Monday, May 13th.
A student, wishing to remain anonymous, reported that he and several classmates sought refuge in the bush, where they concealed themselves for over an hour.
