On Wednesday, a Federal High Court in Abuja remanded social media influencer and critic, Martins Vincent Otse, commonly known as Verydarkman, in police custody.
DAILY POST reported that the social media critic was previously arraigned by the Nigeria Police Force on five counts related to cyberstalking.
His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, applied for bail, but the prosecution team requested more time to respond. Consequently, Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon of the Federal High Court adjourned the bail hearing to May 29.
The police prosecution sought to have the well-known social media critic remanded in prison custody, but his lawyers applied for him to be kept in police custody instead.
The court granted their request, and he was subsequently taken to the National Cybercrime Centre.
DAILY POST recalls that the controversial critic was previously remanded in March 2024 for the same cyberbullying offense.
The 27-year-old, known for his involvement in controversial topics, has been in the spotlight since January this year.
The decision to detain him again has sparked mixed reactions from netizens, with many arguing that he should not be sent back to jail after his previous experience there.
